Real estate agents in today’s world are juggling a lot, and that’s putting it mildly. Between prospecting new clients, staying on top of industry trends, nurturing their sphere, and marketing themselves, it’s not uncommon for an agent to end the day feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, and feeling like they have nothing to show for it.

Here is a list of 5 things that I make sure to do every single day that has helped me refocus when I feel torn in multiple directions, and also end the day feeling accomplished and on the path toward my goals:

1. SHOW UP

The most important thing we have to do as the owner of our own real estate businesses is show up for work. Most of us embark on this journey because we are searching for something that creates more freedom and flexibility.

2. MAKE A PLAN

What do you do when you get there? Identify the prospecting activity you believe will be the most beneficial and best use of your time. Once you identify it, write it down and execute your business plan for the day. We all know that in 2-3 hours we will be in the whirlwind of calls, emails, and messages. Taking time to build your business first is imperative so that you don’t get stuck in the rollercoaster and then have to scramble to cultivate more opportunities again before you go broke.

3. WRITE OUT WHAT YOU ARE GRATEFUL FOR

Pausing to take a couple of minutes to write out what you are grateful for will help set the tone for the mindset you want to be in when you execute your activity plan for the day. You have control over this part of your day, so how do you want to show up for others? What will you attract when you have already started your day with great things in mind? Get those positive brain chemicals flowing!

4. PLAY FULL OUT

When you hear “play full out,” what does that mean to you? Does it mean making that extra call to the buyer you have been avoiding, sharing that extra real estate review that you have been meaning to send, or does it mean doing something that you have had on your to do list for 2 years? Playing full out means showing up for the people you are here to serve. Every day we get in our own way and choose to do something less meaningful in avoidance of the thing that is likely the most impactful investment of our time. Make your motivation greater than your fear

5. GIVE YOURSELF SOME GRACE

Strive for progress today, not perfection. We like to claim that we should always do more, be better. To be honest, those “shoulds” take up way more space in our minds than they deserve. Give yourself grace. Real estate is hard. Most of us are not able to be fully present with our families and friends, the people we are working so hard to be with, because we are mentally thinking of what we are not doing instead of just doing these 5 simple things. Set yourself up for success to truly enjoy the freedom you work so hard for. Feel good about the difference you are making in the world. What we do is important, we care about our clients, and if we are here to lead by example then we need to step up and show them what is possible.
